How We Train
Kalah System builds in resistance as you build in proficiency.
“Self-defense” is often used to described a set of responses or moves against the advances of a would-be attacker. But when faced with a situation where you are in fear for your life and nobody is coming to save you, it all boils down to surviving violence and “self-defense” is our legal justification for the means we use to survive. Kalah System believes our training should match that reality. We start everyone with the fundamentals and as proficiency increases, so does the resistance applied by our training partners.
Resistance includes physical pressure as well and mental and emotional pressure designed to inoculate the student against freezing in the face of evil. Kalah System uses simple principles and techniques, but should not and cannot be easy or comfortable. We train to get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
